Imahe o Rebulto?

- at pinaka importante sa lahat, HINDI NAMIN ITO GINAGAWANG PARANG DYOS (pinaglilingkuran at sinasamba DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY).

"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Deu. 30:19

"Do Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) TV preachers realize that they humiliate and insult Catholics with their full-blast demolition job, by interpreting and inferring “falsehoods” of many principal Catholic beliefs and practices? (This is done without the full benefit of explanations and clarifications by a competent Catholic authority present).

Why are the INC TV preachers obsessed with anti-Catholic talk day in, day out?

Is the destruction of Catholicism an integral part of INC evangelization to promote INC membership growth, INC members’ righteousness and exclusive salvation?

Can’t the INC preachers sermonize their sola scriptura beliefs for their own exclusive holiness and spirituality, without having to defame Catholics?

Is the intent of the INC the proclamation and recognition of the INC (established by the patriarch of the Manalo family in 1914) as the only sacred, righteous, invincible and infallible church to the eternal damnation of all other Christian religions?

Don’t INC TV anti-Catholic diatribes render obsolete Jesus Christ’s sermon on the mount; e.g. “Blessed are the peacemaker… the merciful… those who suffer for righteousness sake”?
Why do INC TV preachers disregard the constitutional provisions that different religious beliefs must be respected and tolerated?

Granted that INC TV preachers talk in eloquent Tagalog and do not fulminate, still their trajectory of insult and humiliation is obvious. And they say the greatest commandment is love?

Perhaps it’s time for INC leaders to undergo soul searching to reconsider their uncharitable treatment of Catholics on TV. The crying need in our country is for all segments of society to work in a concentrated effort for peace and unity. The same is true in our globalized world bedeviled by wars of aggression and terrorism traceable to religious fanaticism.

Interfaith dialogue
Ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who got involved in the immoral Iraq invasion, understood the role of religion in solving racial and cultural conflicts during the pacification process. He organized the Tony Blair Foundation “to rescue faith from irrelevance caused by widespread secularism and bloodstain secularism.” The foundation aims to activate interfaith dialogue and communal action using multi-denominational networks of churches and its capabilities as service points.

Last October, Pope Benedict XVI joined Buddhist monks, Islamic scholars, Hindus and some agnostics in making a communal call for peace insisting “that religion must never be used as a pretext for war on terrorism.”

During the event Buddhist monks, priests and patriarchs committed themselves to working for dialogue, justice and peace for a more equitable and friendly world.

On Nov. 12, 2011 at the Vatican City, a delegation of Muslim, Christian, Jewish and Druse religious leaders in Israel met with Pope Benedict XVI in a well-publicized effort to promote interfaith and peace initiatives in the region.

Pope Benedict XVI has long been promoting interfaith dialogue. He urged the council of religious leaders gathered in Rome to continue working together to “foster a climate of trust and dialogue among all leaders in the region.”

The principles on ecumenism admonish Catholic priests and lay leaders to have frequent prayers of unity as the soul of “spiritual ecumenism, and that this prayer of unity is reflective of the prayer, that they may all be one.”

The use of TV by Catholics in the Philippines is confined to telecasts of masses on Sundays and other feasts. The purpose is to allow the sick and those who are confined in homes, hospitals and safe houses to participate in the rituals of the mass.

Catholic priests as a rule use the pulpit for the sole purpose of illuminating the lessons in the gospel, out of respect for the spirit of ecumenism.

Many Catholics have observed that INC members in their neighborhood or workplace are friendly, industrious, unassuming, non-confrontational and peaceful persons.
Perhaps the INC TV preachers can change their acts to adopt a more humble and charitable style. The world will be a better place if all religious leaders have the humility and generosity to honor the spirit of ecumenism rather than harbor doctrinal enmity.

Jesus Christ taught us to pray by addressing God as “Our Father who art in heaven…” Isn’t this a clear advocacy that we must all live in harmony and solidarity as children of God? C’mon, pinagpipitaganan naming kapatid, Eduardo Manalo, please request your TV preachers to stop rocking the boat. Aren’t we all brothers in Christ? When it comes to our eternal destiny, we are all in the same boat.

I must say, may point naman sila.

Example:

"Fear not for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, And gather you from the west;  I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' And to the south, 'Do not keep them back!'  Bring My sons from afar. And My daughters from the ends of the earth."  Isa. 43:5-6

"Calling a bird of prey from the east. The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it" Isa. 46:11

"Then I heard another voice from heaven say, “Come out of that city, my people, so that you will not share in her sins. Then you will not suffer any of the terrible punishment she will get." Rev. 18:4

"Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Eph. 5:11

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." II ti. 3:16-17

whats new for Abs-cbn news reporter Alex Santos

Ax falls on ‘news managing’ ABS-CBN reporter

Where in the world is Alex Santos?

ABS-CBN’s top reporter for kidnapping incidents has been conspicuously absent in the network’s news and public affairs programs. No longer is he seen in Umagang Kay Ganda and TV Patrol, much to the delight, we heard, of Jorge CariƱo, the lone ABS-CBN reporter who could rival Santos in the category of good looks.
alex
But let it be clear that CariƱo had nothing to do with Santos’ disappearance. And no, our guy wasn’t kidnapped. He actually quit before the network could formally boot him out last February.

This was what happened.

Santos had a scoop — guess what — about a missing boy. He covered the story and was all set for the evening’s newscast.  But then came a piece of good news. The victim had been recovered and Santos had been told about it.

The logical thing to do was to update the story, but Santos had something else in mind. He went ahead with the original story — the poor child was still missing — and was “saving” the update for another day. In short, the viewers were served a “partially truthful” story courtesy of the Alex Santos School of News Management.

The story was so heart-breaking that it hit the core of TV Patrol anchor and ex-Vice President Noli De Castro’s humanity. De Castro ended up bantering at length about the unfortunate incident during the primetime newscast. And it didn’t stop there.

The following morning in his radio program, De Castro tackled the story further and interviewed a local official. That’s when the truth exploded in the face of poor Kabayan — the victim had been found!
Embarrassed before his legions of fans, De Castro stormed the newsroom afterward and demanded an investigation. Santos’ cameraman wilted under pressure and spilled the beans on his “enterprising” reporter. The cameraman had apparently been instructed by Santos not to surrender the CF card containing additional footage on the crucial development in the story.

Santos’ “news management” busted, ABS-CBN soon came out with the verdict: FIRE HIM! Before the ax could actually fall, Santos left quietly, a disgraced journo who had suddenly gone jobless.
Last we heard, he’s knocking on the door of a cable TV-based news network whose main viewers are relatives of its pretty but largely clueless reporters.

We do hope the sun eventually shines in this dark episode in Santos’ career. In the meantime, we’re left with his chief ABS-CBN rival, the dashing, spotless and erudite Jorge CariƱo, who’s busy with his orbit around local officials for the network’s special pre-election series.

Boac Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista was named the bishop of the Diocese of Imus, which was left vacant by Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.
The 52-year-old native of Batangas is a member of the Permanent Council of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the report said.
He is also the chief of the CBCP Commission on Vocations and a member of the Commission on Seminaries.

LP bet in Marinduque disqualified

Repost from Philippine Daily Inquirer

Comelec division rules Reyes heiress lied about citizenship, residency

By ,

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified from running for a House seat an heiress of a powerful political clan in Marinduque, an administration candidate, for false statements about her citizenship and residency in her certificate of candidacy (COC).
In a 12-page resolution dated March 27, the Comelec First Division, led by Presiding Commissioner Lucenito Tagle, canceled the COC of Regina Ongsiako Reyes, daughter of Marinduque Gov. Carmencita Reyes.
The division ruled on a petition filed by Joseph Socorro Tan, a registered voter of Torrijos, Marinduque, who asked the Comelec to disqualify Regina, saying her candidacy is a violation of the Constitution and the Omnibus Election Code.
Tan alleged that Reyes lied in her COC about her age, civil status, residence and citizenship.
The division ruling, however, focused only on two aspects of the case—Regina’s citizenship and her residency.

Not married
In her reply to Comelec, Regina said Tan simply based his allegation about her residency on a theory that she is married to Rep. Herminaldo Mandanas, who lives in Batangas.
Regina said while she is publicly known as Mandanas’ wife, she is not married to the congressman.
Regina also said there is no evidence showing that she is a permanent resident or citizen of the United States.
In the petition, Tan said Reyes acquired US citizenship in 2005 and was issued a US passport.
Tan submitted pieces of evidence, including an article in the Internet that came out on Jan. 8 providing a record from the US immigration bureau showing that Regina is a US citizen.
Tan also submitted Regina’s travel records that showed her using a US passport.
The Comelec division said, however, that there is no evidence that Regina had renounced her US citizenship and taken an oath of allegiance to the Republic of the Philippines.
“There is no showing that the respondent complied with the … requirements (of reacquiring Philippine citizenship),” said the Comelec resolution.
Burden of proof
It said the burden of proof has shifted to Regina. “This the respondent utterly failed to do so, leading to the conclusion inevitable that respondent falsely misrepresented in her COC that she is a natural-born Filipino citizen,” said the resolution.
“She remains to be an American citizen and is therefore ineligible to run for and hold any public office in the Philippines,” it said.
The Comelec division added that since there is no proof that Reyes had renounced her American citizenship, it follows that she has not abandoned her domicile of choice in States.
The division said the only proof that Regina presented to show that she has met the one-year residency requirement and that she never abandoned her residency in Boac is her claim that she served as provincial administrator of the province from Jan. 18 to July 13, 2011.
“But such fact alone is not sufficient to prove her one-year residency,” said the resolution.
It said citizenship is an indispensable requirement for anyone seeking public office in the Philippines.
“It is a requisite which should be dealt with more scrutiny, if only to ensure that no person owing allegiance to another nation is actually permitted to govern our people,” it said.

Congressional candidate in marinduque disqualified

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified Regina Reyes, daughter of Marinduque Governor Carmencita Reyes, from running as congresswoman in next month’s midterm elections.
Reyes is running as representative of the lone congressional district in Marinduque.
In its 13-page decision, the Comelec First Division ruled that Reyes is not eligible to run for public office in the province for being an American citizen.
The ineligible candidate was declared as such also for her failure to meet the one-year residency requirement for candidates.
“Thus, a Filipino citizen who becomes naturalized elsewhere effectively abandons his domicile of origin,” the Comelec said in a resolution signed by Commissioners Lucenito Tagle and Christian Robert Lim of the First Division.
“In this case, there is no showing whatsoever that respondent (Reyes) had already re-acquired her Filipino citizenship… so as to conclude that she has regained her domicile in the Philippines. There being no proof that respondent had renounced her American citizenship, it follows that she has not abandoned her domicile of choice in the United States of America,” the poll body stressed.
The Comelec ruled that the American citizenship of Reyes was evident based on her previous travels to the US from October 14, 2005 to June 30 2012, using her United States passport No. 306278853.
The Comelec decision stemmed from the petition filed by Joseph Tan, a resident of Torrijos, Marinduque, to cancel Reyes’ certificate of candidacy for making several false representations in her COC.
Tan claimed that Reyes stated in her COC that she was born June 3, l964, when some pertinent records showed that her date of birth was July 8, 1959, while others stated that she was born on July 3, 1960.
The petitioner added that Reyes failed to renounce her American citizenship.
He said Reyes violated Section 6, Article VI of the Constitution and Section 74 of the Omnibus Election Code (OEC) since a candidate seeking for a congressional post must be a natural-born Filipino citizen.

He pointed out that “Reyes did not apply for dual citizenship, and even if she did, there is no record that she renounced her US citizenship.”
The Liberal Party fielded Reyes as its candidate for representative of Marinduque against incumbent congressman Lord Allan Jay Velasco of National Unity Party. She is the daughter of Marinduque Gov. Carmencita Reyes and sister of Toll Regulatory Board Executive Director Edmundo Reyes, Jr.

The case stemmed from a petition filed by Joseph Tan to deny due course to or cancel Reyes’ certificate of candidacy on the basis of several false representations made by Reyes in her certificate of candidacy.

The petition stated that Reyes, daughter of Marinduque Governor Carmencita Reyes and sister of Toll Regulatory Board Executive Director Edmundo Reyes, Jr., intentionally withheld the fact that she is single, a natural-born Filipino citizen, and a resident of Boac, Marinduque, but who carries a US passport.

Reyes was supposed to face Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco, who defeated her brother Edmundo during the May 2010 polls.

In its decision, the poll body pointed out that Reyes is a US citizen and relied on the certificate issued by the Bureau of Immigration detailing Reyes’ use of a US passport since 2005.

“Unless and until she can establish that she had availed of the privileges of RA 9225 by becoming a dual Filipino-American citizen, and thereafter, made a valid sworn renunciation of her American citizenship, she remains to be an American citizen and is, therefore, ineligible to run for and hold any elective public office in the Philippines,” the Comelec ruling said.

The poll body further stated that “the requirement of Philippine citizenship is indispensable for a person seeking for an elective public office…It is a requisite which should be dealt with more scrutiny, if only to ensure that no person owing allegiance to other nation is actually permitted to govern our people.”

Sources from the Comelec say that when the finality of the ruling is rendered, all votes for Reyes will be deemed as stray votes or will not be counted by the PCOS machines.
